What’s the best day to arrive at Tomahawk…..Monday or Tuesday?
Thanks,
JimJune 6, 2016 at 10:24 pm #37797The meet officially starts on Wednesday but by Tuesday night you’d swear it’s in full swing! We arrived on Sunday afternoon and just "camp" on the site we reserve every year until Wed!

June 7, 2016 at 1:27 pm #37825That’s good to know Tubs. I’m able to make it for the first time this year. I’m coming to buy and won’t be able to get there until Thursday afternoon at the earliest. Friday will be my only full day there. I have a 600 mile drive one way and have to work so I sure can’t make it earlier. Everything I’m hearing makes it sound like I’ll be there too late for most of the good buying and the whole this is basically winding down and wrapping up on Friday. That’s pretty disappointing considering it supposedly starts on Wednesday. 🙁

June 7, 2016 at 2:47 pm #37830Tubs,
I’m sure you are right about the distance many of the sellers have to travel and having jobs to get back to. I can respect that as my wife and I both have jobs to get back to which is why I can’t get there any earlier.I’m still going, it’s just really frustrating to know that im going primarily to buy and by time I arrive everything will have already been picked over all week. It will be my first time there and I and I’m looking forward to it very much. It’s just a bit disheartening to think that I’m making the trip to the biggest swap meet around and I’ll be missing out on the best part of it before I can even get there. It’s definitely good to know though, thank you for the info.
Maybe next year, if I go back, I will end up adjusting my vacation time and having to leave my wife and daughter at home and working arond the unofficial schedule more. It’s difficult to do that when we also have family vacation and I’m the only one in my family that cares about outboards. It’s a wonder I am getting to go at all this year. We’ll see what happens. If you do end up going, I hope to see you there. 🙂

June 7, 2016 at 3:35 pm #37835Tubs,
I do consider myself quite lucky to be able to go at all. I realize that ever making it to Tomahawk at all is just not possible for many members. My wife has already mapped out much of the surrounding area for things she and my daughter can do while I shop. 😉 I do appreciate the tip or the registration table also. It would certainly benefit me if she looked forward to going. She is this time since she has found things to do, but who knows if that will last past one trip. I’m all done complaining and looking forward to going.Finding out that the swap was half over before the meet is scheduled to start was just a bit surprising for a new guy I guess. I was expecting it to be well underway by Thursday evening when I get there but was not expecting that I’d be that late the party arriving one day after it started. Anyway, I hope you can make it and I get to see you there. If not, I understand since you will have already just gotten back from another long trip.

June 7, 2016 at 4:31 pm #37841If you know what you want to buy, post an ad prior to the meet. The seller can have it for you. I do it to pre-sell and it makes it easy for both the buyer and seller.
