They are comparably tough to work on; so if you have to PAY somebody to work on one, they are worthless. For the hobbyist with a little extra patience, they are cool, good-running motors.
About 90 percent of them seem to have the trailing edge of the gear case bullet broken out. (Right in front of the prop.) The piece that cracks is only about an eighth inch thick; and sometimes, it’s gone completely. It’s hard to tell if it’s missing, if you’re not familiar with the problem. This, too, makes them almost useless.
And, like Dave said, looks are very important to the value. If it looks near mint, it is worth 50 times more than a beater in the same mechanical condition.
