Back then the designers were like the guys on
this discussion board, working in a shop behind
the house. Many here have better equipment than
they had. Today’s stuff is so complicated and
over engineered that the dealers that sell the stuff
don’t have people that can work on it.

December 24, 2023 at 10:12 am #283451That carb cover really went to “pot”!
No wonder they call it pot metal.I see old Harley cans never die!
That muffler should appreciate some modern two cycle oil!

Ditto on the modern two cycle oil!
I made that into a test tank almost 60 years ago.
Just for kicks I just searched eBay to see if there
were any for sale. Then I search completed items
to see if any actually sold.
Just my luck.

Its true that there isn’t much available in repair parts
for the era of motors I work on. It can take some
searching to find a part. Often the best you can find
needs some repair or doesn’t fit even though its from
the same year and model. However I really enjoy
most all of it.
Searching out usable parts for 7 years has
produced enough results to where I could have a
running motor. My own little Oak Island but I’m
actually finding the treasure.
