I have a ’56 and ’58 wiring harnesses that I am redoing. All I need now is the rubber tubing that holds all the wires together. Is that just really big heat shrink??? Any suggestions on where to get it from.
Thank you

March 27, 2017 at 7:34 am #55003I have found that an old bike tube works well and it was free! ……..the local bike shop owner had several in his rubbish bin and was very happy to give me a couple.
MonteNZMarch 27, 2017 at 11:02 am #55006I suppose heat shrink might be a possibility, but it wouldn’t be my choice. Others may feel differently. While not authentic, I have seen lots of new boats rigged with split wire loom, available at your local auto parts store. Looks good, but not "correct" if that matters.

March 27, 2017 at 12:10 pm #55013I know from experience that when using heat shrink tubing, the wires can no longer slide past each other when you want to bend the cable. The split wire loom or the woven stuff is a lot more user friendly.

March 27, 2017 at 12:34 pm #55015I found this stuff where I used to work, they used it to run their wires thru it for their Plasma transfer arc welders… I have a chunk at home, I will look to see if it has any identifiers tonight, it is very robust and I believe is cut resistant. This covering is meant to protect wires while being walked over so should do well within our scope of need…

heat-shrink is not very flexible once it is heated and shrunk.
the nylon braided sleeve will always be flexible and look good.
also, moisture can not accumulate inside the harness.http://www.ebay.com/itm/151520817057?_t … EBIDX%3AIT
