You want the "Merc KG" impeller for your WF-4.

Here’s one source that I uncovered a while back when I needed one.

        https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCURY-KD3-KD … 7675.l2557

        Here’s another:

I also have in my notes that an 382221 OMC impeller (18-45221) can be adapted. I don’t remember exactly what is needed but sometimes they have to be shortened a bit and perhaps the inner diameter needs to be opened up to fit on the shaft. Typically easy fixes that can save you some money.

Early K Model Mercurys and Wizards made by Kiekhaefer Corp. (Mercury) with the "3 slit" water
pump casting use the same impeller Mercury Part # 47 -24447
          Several vendors offer the impeller
Several impellers can be altered to be usable.
The impeller is driven by a drive hub which has "arms" which fit into notches in end of
impeller. If you have access to a milling machine the notches could be milled out in a
moment or two. Using a motor tool (Dremel) or drill press might not be as neat or quick
but, would work. Less finicky types might just epoxy impeller to shaft. skip the drive hub
and use only the pin. The OMC impeller (and probably other as well) have a plastic core
while the original Mercuy impeller core is brass.
Member Brian Wilcox makes impellers on a core exchange basis which is anther option.

Whichever option you use, it is a good idea to remove water jackets to see if a stray vane
or 2 has wandered upstream where it may block exit at some inconvenient moment.
Sometimes you can do this without damage to gaskets. If not, gaskets are easy to make.
          and gasket stock inexpensive.

Impellers for antique outboards are more costly , because of low volume production and demand. Altering a relatively inexpensive impeller MAY work well enough and long enough
to be worth the effort. Removing and replacing an impeller on this type water pump is
not difficult. Do remember to apply water proof grease to prop shaft when servicing lower
unit. Prop shaft seal in water pump is a bear to remove

Vane type impeller is used on "3 slot" water pump.(Mercury Part # 47-24447)
Early "16 square hole" and "7 slot" use an oscillator (Mercury Part # 47- 24427)

tried to make an impeller out of pine, but it wooden work

tried to make one out of steal, but somebody took it

tried to make one out of an old boot, but then it kept kicking out of gear

So I gave up and went back to working on a rowboat motor… cuz they don’t need impellers….. also because there are no bad jokes about rowboat motors…..
