I bought the decals several years ago for this Wizard WD4S outboard. On the front shroud there is an option to use either type winged decals. This is a 1947 model with recoil starter. Would the decal with the circle in front of the wing be the correct one? The shroud was missing on this motor when I bought it. On the Mercurys, the winged decal with just the lines are the ones I usually see.

The red circles in the above shown pictures, in my mind, are glaringly incorrect…Maybe I am just anal like that

classicomctools@gmail.comApril 16, 2017 at 7:16 pm #56208I was told a while back that one went to the motor with the recoil and the other for the motor with the rope shieve. Of course I am one of those people that don’t remember stuff. Those covers often get discarded and the new owners use what they can find.

By the way, thanks for the replysApril 16, 2017 at 7:23 pm #56211Richard, I see what you mean now with the different graphics.

Went out and looked at a Wizard cowl that I bought for my WD4S. It has the decals similar to the motor at this site http://joeoutboard.com/component/phocag … d=category
Didn’t realize that there were possibly two types of decals depending on starting configuration.
April 22, 2017 at 4:34 pm #56530Hi Richard,
Yes you are correct the reproduction decals are wrong in style and size.
I will check with the other decal suppliers to see if they have the correct decals in stock.
For a long time these decals were not offered and many members just hand painted them on or just
Left the cowl painted with no decals (UGH) 🙄 I think I’ll leave my other WD4-S unrestored as found
Original condition as it is nice to have an original example to refer back to and there does not seem to be
Many pictures on the Web of originals etc…Now does anyone know the correct paint code for 1946-47 Wizard GOLD Paint?
I have seen many restored motors and they are all different colors like
Bright Xmas Gold to Yellow Gold to Brown Met Gold etc..
I am going to try a custom automotive mix from my local auto paint supplier.Bob
