The 6 volt choke solenoid I have does not work with my 6 volt battery.
I was wondering if the lantern battery had enough amps to activate it.
I even hooked up three 6 volt batteries in parallel circuit
I did a continuity test of the 6 volt choke solenoid and it was ok.
A lantern battery should provide more than enough amps to actuate the 6V choke solenoid. However, if your 6V battery will turn the starter then your choke solenoid or it’s wiring is damaged.
It doesn’t do the battery any good – the choke solenoid is approx 6/10 ohm which draws 10 amps at 6 volts. Spiking a lantern battery like that may cause it to develop leaks, and, like Garry said, it won’t last long. An alkaline lantern battery is a mess of AA cells wired in a series/parallel configuration. A carbon-zinc lantern battery may not work at all.
