Found at an estate sale…a small bronze gear case with an unusual pattern 3 blade composition (plastic) propeller. SLEIPNER. Apparently from Europe. Not absolutely
sure it is from an outboard. Also marked 11/96
      Klees Please!

It’s a bow thruster, I bet. That brand is also known as Side Power, made in Norway. Is the top of the gear case curved? If so, that would be so it fits cross-wise in a tube mounted underwater in the bow of a decent size boat.

          Long live American manufacturing!

I had not thought about a bow thruster. That would explain the heavy duty construction
and salt water tolerant material. Gear case has no provision for water pump nor does
            it have a skeg.
I can not post photos but can send for posting.

Looked up Sleipner Thruster, mine does not appear to be a current product. Company has been around since before Model T Ford. Apparently making engines only until 1978.
So thruster is a classic not an antique by aomci standards.
It sure did look like an old outboard lower unit. Good thing I only paid pocket change for it.
Will take to next swap meet.
            Thanks
