    This motor has 6 areas under the gas tank decal with 2 small, shallow holes in a faint approx. 1/2 inch circle. Does anyone know the purpose for these holes?  I can send a photo.

      Yes pics please…can’t think of any reason for holes being there.

        If you asking about these, I’m guessing its a plug or a vent in the mold. A part of the molding process of the tank.

        A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

          I’ve read somewhere that they are as Tubbs noted a result vent or riser tube from the cast process.

          All the cast “A” tanks I’ve seen have these, the cast Lockwood tanks do not or hidden well.

          Both these pics are “A”‘s

            Thanks for your responses.  Yes, the tank has the same circle and holes (mine were filled in with a puddy) as the photo from T..in Wisconsin.  Thanks again.   John Hunter
