I am currently working on a 1922 Elto Ruddertwin S#3361
There was a lot of play in the rods. When I disassembled the rods it looks as if they had babbitt in them.
The babbitt on the cap side was wiped out.
I have not seen this before.
I cleaned the damaged babbitt from the rods.
The crank pins are approximately
.798 and round and in decent shape. The rod bore with the
babbit removed is approximately
.910 and round.
I have one other 22 Ruddertwin but didn’t have to take the power head apart.
Did these come with babbitt on the rods or is this just someone’s attempt at a repair long ago?
If anyone has the correct measurements of the journals and rods I would really appreciate it.
Thanks. Phil in CT. Member.
