      I have been working on completely restoring my k50 Johnson and am almost done!  I was just wondering if the propeller shaft should be able to slide back and forth a little or if it should be a tight fit?  If I remember correctly when I disassembled it, it had a little play.  I have it set right now to not have play.

        You have reassembled it correctly as long things turn smoothly without gear noise or binding.
