Hello all,
Recently I was gifted a 1939 Champion S1E 2.9hp outboard that had been refinished in non-standard colors by its previous owner.
Other than the gas tank and associated fittings which are currently missing, it appears to be complete and mechanically sound. I would therefore like to return it to original condition at some stage in the near future.
To facilitate the restoration, I am in need of photos of original, unmolested Champion S1E outboards. Unfortunately there’s not a lot on the internet, and therefore I am hoping users of these boards may be able to assist. Any photos you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance & regards,

I’ll await a few other replies also, as photos will also help to identify any non-original parts fitted also.
Kind Regards,

There is a bloke on eBay advertising a fuel tank for a 1939 S1E at the moment. It’s a different design altogether and clearly incorrect based on your information.
You’ve therefore saved me some money, time and frustration and I greatly appreciate that.
Ken W, the quality of those restorations are spectacular. Are those outboards yours?
Thanks again & regards,
