I’m restoring an old sea king and the coil tests good bit didn’t have spark. Waiting on plug wires to come in, but there’s a wire coming off the points that goes to a screw on the front of the magneto. Looks like it may have been a kill switch but I don’t see a button or lever or anything for it. It has fiber washers underneath and on top of the wire. Does anyone know for sure what this is? I can post a pic later but thought someone may have one and could explain the original function

June 29, 2020 at 10:17 am #207036Tom, you are correct, when the advance is all the way left, this screw grounds against a steel pin. I guess I would have seen this when I put it all back together but we were on vacation and it was on my mind at the time. Hopefully it’ll be all together in a few days. I still don’t exactly know what model it is. I see sea king midgets and I’m thinking this may be one as it’s very short shaft. I’ll post pictures when it’s finished

Also does anyone know of a source for the plunger that operates the points? I’ve robbed another engine to get this one going but will need one for that engine eventually.
