I bought the subject motor at Tomahawk several years ago,
even though it was missing the gearcase, driveshaft, etc.,
and froze up, just because I’d never seen one in person. This was a “full” gear-shift model, and I’m guessing they had
troubles with the gearcases. I saw one listed on an old auction,
and it was also missing the gearcase!I took it off the rack a couple of days ago, just to see if it would
have the same carb as a 46-47 Champion Blue Ribbon 4.2 hp
that I’m having issues with. It does not.Anyway, the bottom piston was slightly frozen, and I got it
loose, but I was surprised to see it’s missing one of the piston
rings.
Anyone have a parts manual for this G3LGS model that would show
the piston ring part number? The rings are 1-7/8″ x .093 thick.Thanks.

April 21, 2026 at 7:59 pm #316100I have a 53 Voyager 5.5 (VL-GS). I think the rings can be bought at Otto,s engine works (ringspacers.com). You may have to file to clear the keeper pin. I may have some parts for your gearbox. The impeller, I adapted from a Honda impeller. I will scan the manual sometime tonight or tomorrow.

April 25, 2026 at 3:38 am #316405That’s been about 12 years ago when I fitted the new impeller. I used the list of Sierra impellers to find one that could be adapted to work. My guess is the 9.9-15 hp motors.

You can use a website like iluvpdf.com to make a PDF from your original files. It’s free and works very very well.
Or just post the files here as the site allows (maybe a limit of three per post) and I can take care of the rest. PDF’s are the best format for such things. Easily shareable.
Thanks!
