when I was 15/16 my father bought me a new 1955 (I think)18hp orange mercury…we really could not afford it …I only got to use it for six months before we had to return it…how can I find out more …it was beautiful and I could pull someone on skis easily with one kid in the front of the boat…thanks Gil Madray

Sounds like a ’56 to ’58 Mark 25, probably in Sunset Orange and Sand Tan. (White, basically.) Nice running motors when they are right. They are still around. Most will require extensive restoration though, unless you want to pay top dollar for an already-restored one. Mechanical restoration requires at least a moderate skill level, to make a runner. Cosmetically, for just a man cave display, they are much easier, as they don’t even require any decals (unless it’s an electric start.)

                Long live American manufacturing!
