Hello all.  It has been years since I logged in here.  I have a very unique situation here.

I have an old Big Twin with no spark, but yet it has new coils and spark plug leads.

I am betting that the condensors are toast.

Let me know what you think and who has a pair of new ones at a decent price.

new ones won’t hurt .22uf  but it may not be the cause of the problem.

just take them off and measure ohms    analog needle meter are best for this and you should see a kick with resistance  gradually increasing to infinity as the condensers charges itself from the probe voltage…   a 0 ohms  is a dead shorted  condenser   a no kick condenser is open.

Condensers  are available at dealers      buy new ones    NOS    new old stock condensers are just that old !!

your engine may have   a kill safety preventing ignition make certain it isn’t the problem.  clean clean clean the points

to service your oldy download this book it has all you need to service it.  print locally  and bind.

Well, good news.  The condensors turned out to be okay.  I just wasn’t crankin’ fast enough for tests.  I hooked a battery to the starter and spun it over.  Worked great.  I dumped a little gas in the top cylinder and it fired off.  Soon I will fill the bottom end and start it up.

Don’t go to far without checking electricals !!  old coils/condensers  have a tendency to stop 10 miles out !    Hope you have a high transom  🙂

Yea she is a long shaft, but I don’t believe it’s a factory long shaft.  I am keeping my thoughts open for now.  I may get a 14/15 foot runabout, or a deep hull 16 foot aluminum.  That would make it a nice fishing boat.

I have a pair of new plugs on the way.  I just need to fill the lower unit with new oil.  I was shocked that when I drained the old oil out, there was no water.  Some have asked if they came from the factory that way 🤣🤣🤣

I also need to install new hoses.

with theextension out changing drive shaft and shift rod  will make it fit on a regular transom unless it is a keeper as is
