I recently rebuilt the carb on this outboard, and put everything back together, but I donโ€™t exactly remember where this spring hooked on to, is it suppose to hook on to the small bracket on the cam follower, if so then where does the other side of the spring hook on to?

This cam follower spring is on a 1955 RDE-15 25 hp.
Not sure it would be the same as yours.

I believe that spring goes on the stainless rod you show in your second picture. It’s the rod going straight up towards the rewind starter housing. You will see a little tab around that link with a hole in it. The spring hooks there & the other end hooks in a hole on the rewind housing. Wish I had a picture. Just did my Lark a few months back.

Not the best picture but this show’s the flat plate( item 25 in the diagram posted above)with the hole in it for the spring that slides on the vertical linkage rod. Hard to tell in the picture you posted but it looks like the plate is installed incorrectly at the base of the linkage rod.

OutboardBoy, the tab has merely slid down on the rod (as they do). Simply slide it back up and hook the spring between it and the recoil housing.

BTW, it looks like your electric starter mounting bolt is loose. You might want to tighten it up.
