      You will have better luck trying to turn the flywheel than tapping the pistons.  It’s near or at top dead center and rods have no leverage on the crankshaft.

        Yes a piston at the top or bottom is not the best.  A shock wave might make a difference.  It’s like tapping a crankshaft when removing a flywheel.  Or maybe you seen a mechanic  tap a tie rod end on the side to get it separated.   My dad used to say,” don’t force it get a bigger hammer”.   That might not apply here but the concept is the same!
