Hello everyone,  I have a question about wood sealing. I have a 1958 molded fiber glass boat, suburban. I am replacing the wood inside the boat. Does anyone know what type of wood sealer should be used? I am also painting the inside and out. Another question is what type of paint. Thank you for any help you can provide. Have a great and safe weekend everyone.

What wood are you using in your restoration? Are you staining it first or just applying a finish?I restored and still own a 15’ 1961 MFG ,which is essentially a Lyman knock off.

What Gary asked … and where will the wood be placed? If all encased in fiberglas then my guess would be to use ground contacted rated treated yellow pine. Maybe someone has experience and knows… If exposed and to be “bright work” then options are white oak or mahogany.
