      Currently working on getting this motor back together. It has been zinc primed and is ready for paint, but I’m not 100% sure where to find the correct color.

      The only color I need is the “Silver Mocha.” The motor has the Satin Green fiberglass hood, which I’ve been told is a less common color.

      If anyone has any ideas on where to get the paint, please let me know.

        Member Ben Dittmar  (Chrysleroutboarddude on Youtube) has  (had?) one of those.  He did a video of it many years ago which is still up. If he still owns the motor…..maybe he could help out with getting the colors on his matched at a paint shop.  His motor looked to be on good condition on the video.’

          I texted him this morning, and he didn’t have the paint code. I have a part of the motor that had been painted decently so I am going to bring it to the paint store after work to have it scanned. Probably NAPA or the like.

            Most do not realize, when they “scan” your color… They are looking thru their database to see if they have a color that is “close”.
            They are NOT looking original paint colors by every manufacturer that ever painted a motor, or car or anything like that. UNLESS you get REALLY lucky and someone else has had them mix that specific color…Best I have ever had come up is a 60% match and my paint had little chance at being faded by sunlight as it sat in a climate controlled basement, in a closet, covered with a very nice cover… for 45 years…

              Research big auto body shops in your area. Call and see if they have the digital camera for taking a picture of the paint color of your part that you want to match. Your part’s paint probably isn’t exactly what it was when new but if that is the color you want the proceed. Ask if they can mix paint to match the formula digitally given from your picture and entered in their mixing equipment or at a body paint supplier. The digital age has found its way into almost every business.
              Ask how much they would charge to paint your parts or if you feel up to it, do it yourself.  I did this method a few years ago and I was very happy with the paint color match.

                Thank you all. I decided to bring the tiller handle which came back after a polish and some clearcoat. It came back to a CE Volvo Grey, but is more of a mocha-ish brown color. I think it came out good, I have the first couple layers of base coat on. The powerhead is real rough, as there was a decent about of mouse damage. I have to pull the flywheel, so I have to drill out the three holes with a #7 bit.

                  Then read Ben’s reply to a comment (on that video) which explains why drilling and tapping the holes should be avoided.
