I have a 1966 Evinrude 3hp folder that has a missing lower driveshaft coupler. I bought the motor from a storage shed auction about 5 or 6years ago. I got a good deal on it thankfully.

I was wondering what type of metal the coupler was made. Is it an aluminum alloy or carbon steel alloy?

If anyone knows, I would appreciate some feed back.

The coupler shown in the picture is from a 1968 Evinrude 3hp folder, but it used as reference only.

Hi Cajuncook 1. Might be worth checking if it steel by using a magnet.

I would be very surprised if it isn’t some kind of stainless steel alloy.
