      late 60s 9.5hp should run fine on 50/1                mine does and it is  9622a   1966

        Thanks for the tips Fleetwin. I think the EBay instructions mention the “blow” test as well.
        I took a photo of the pump before I took it apart so I’d know the orientation of the hose barbs.
