Just got a slick 6.6hp Chrysler model 601, serial number 2074. Original spark plugs never removed( till now), only minor scratches on cowl, etc. After a brief check of spark, lower unit lube and other vitals, it is a runner. Of course, I will change fuel lines and impeller before further running.
What year is this motor? None of my books go this recent.

        Roger,
I came across a 6.6 Chrysler but the serial number was 6018. If your serial number could end in 8, then according to my book, it is a 1968.

Well the Chrysler 6.6hp was only made in 1968.
you will probably find that the impeller is just fine they are usually like new.

Thanks for the info. Confirmed that the model number is 601. My books only show the 6hp in ’66 and ’67, and I don’t have any newer literature. I’ll also install a newer fuel pump diaphragm before any cruising.

It may not be a real orphan, that 10.2 cu in motor became a 7-hp in ’69 and ’70, and 8-hp after that till about ’78.
