      Hello All,

In the 70’s OMC decided to eliminate the High Speed needle in their 6HP carburetors. After a while they marketed a kit that converted the carb back to an adjustable High Speed…..for altitude applications and where the customer just wanted to make a more precise adjustment than the fixed jet could offer. The part number for this kit was #0381154.

Do any of you know if such a thing was ever offered for the 9.5HP Turtle motors? I bet a lot of them would run a lot better if the HS needle could be tweaked.

The below image is for the 6HP

oh man! you read my mind. I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing. I’ve looked into it briefly. No luck so far. I would have thought that Leroy would have mentioned it in his writtings, but couldn’t find any reference to an aftermarket high speed kit. He does stress, as well as others, that those carbs have to be very clean to run well.
I’ve thought of making my own. It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard.
but i’ve got to get the damned thing running (as it should) on a boat first.
If you do find anything let me know.
I’m doing a 9922s now. Real close to being done.

I don’t see why one of the other choices wouldn’t work in a 9.5 by playing around with the orifice plug.

That’s great reference Frank. Thank You!

Crosbyman…..it’s primarily an altitude thing. Lakes out by me….once they get above 10,000 feet motors with fixed jets like that tend to run rich.

ho well….at 10,000 feet it must be low on oxygen to ……

when I visited Denver at 5000 feet I was pooped by day’s end.
