      Got a 80’s 50 HP Mercury that has leaking carbs, can’t get a needle to seal up against the integral seat.

      Any tricks out there for these?

        The brass portion must have the rubber seat with the rigged side facing the point of the needle. Also the float needs to spin freely on its post. Do you know how to set the float level ?

          I watch a youtuber called Mustie1 and he polishes the seat
          with a Q tip and valve lapping compound.

            Those are the spring valves right? I had the same engine with the same problem. I ended up substituting solid float valves from (I think) a 150 Yamaha. Problem solved and the motor never ran so sweet. Not quite sure about the 150 but I know they were from a Yamaha.
