This is a kit I bought for a 1952 Evinrude Big Twin. I’m know these kits come with extra parts for a variety of applications but I wonder about a couple of the leftovers? #2 is a screen that seems like it could fit under the gasket of the sediment bowl. Should I use it? Why the extra holes?

#1 seems like a paper gasket. Some other motor? #4? #3 is clearly for mini ring toss to reward myself for rebuilding this carb.

#2 and #4 are used on certain fuel pumps that have the filter under the inlet cover.

        #1, I dunno, or forgot.

#3 is used on automatic chokes.

The sock style filter is used on later motors fuel pumps and your carbs filter should be the 302062 element style filter. It and its hold down hardware are missing in this photo.

Thanks for the parts explanations. Very helpful.

Mumbles, I wondered about that “sock.” Doesn’t fit on. Seems like I’d have to force it. I’ll look for the part you referenced. Thanks.

Actually, I don’t think that kit is applicable to your 1952 carb, is it? Looks like the wrong float bowl gasket.

I was wondering about that gasket, too, Frank. Too close to dismiss but not a clean clear fit. Guess I should start again. Any advice on finding the right kit?

To my knowledge, there never was a carb kit for that motor. You have to pick out and order individual parts that you need.

Thanks, Frank. I see the difference in the gasket.
