It seems that many of our repair parts are getting hard if not impossible to find for our old motors. Take for instance the
Mark 3 or 4 cdi module for the British Seagulls. Does anyone out there know of a swap with some manufacturers ignition module ( mower, chain saw, etc… ) that is proven to work
on these electronic ignition Seagulls ? I would be forever in your debt !
May 3, 2026 at 6:36 pm #317488I believe you would need to send yours to the UK and get a rebuilt one in return. Contact SOS (saving Old seagulls)
Or to me the best ignition for seagulls is the Mark 2 version. Pretty much bulletproof. What engine are you working on?

May 3, 2026 at 8:26 pm #317496I read that Sheridan Marine will refurbish/repair your mark 2 coil but to my knowledge there is no one
who repairs the cdi units. And you cannot buy new ones.
May 3, 2026 at 9:17 pm #317500Well I would give John a try at SOS.
have you actually asked Sheridan if they will supply the CDI units on an exchange basis?
Failing that I would get the complete mark 2 ignition system and be done with it.
I do have spare mark 3 and 4 ignitions, some supposedly new or rebuilt, but I do not really trust them to be reliable.

May 5, 2026 at 3:04 pm #317643Well, after more exploring my options it seems some guys have opted to find coils from
other brands that can fit. This might not be a bad idea since the Seagull units are sealed in epoxy and difficult to redue.
Also you can then get access to the condenser. So, the million dollar question, have any of you heard a coil name whispered
that you can share?

Asi said, the easiest thing to do is install a complete mark 2 ignition.
