I got my Cadillac boat upside down and in the garage today (with a little help).
I have Gluvit sealer coming soon. What’s the best way to remove the old
fiberglass patches without harming the rivets? Torch and putty knife?
I’ve put fiberglass on stuff over the years, but never tried removing it from a boat.
Thanks for ideas, great ideas even better, lol.

P.S.-Also, I have the two “distressed, crack areas as seen inside the boat.
Toying with the idea of riveting patches over the two spots (with sealer
between. Where does on get aluminum sheet the correct thickness?

Here in Iowa we have Menards and they sell relatively small sheets of aluminum in a few gauges. If they didn’t have what I wanted I would go to a local metal fabrication company. They have aluminum in many gauges.

It kinda looks like epoxy so I think your on the right track with the heat . Maybe try a heat gun to loosen it up . I don’t think the heat will work if it’s poly resin .
I may be wrong though …

Thanks for the replies. I did find a few places online that list aluminum sheet stock. I’ll have to measure
the thickness of the boat hull, and determine what gauge it is.
Regarding the fiberglass, it looks like good old fashion stuff you buy in a can and mix hardener with,
and brush over the cloth…… not sure what that is though.
