      Good afternoon all

I picked up a decent early Caille model 79 at the Rocky Hill meet last saturday. Aside from being dirty and having the wrong fuel valve the motor appears complete including the usually missing warm air tube.
It has good compression and looks to have been run in the not so distant past. It has a newer D16 plug and nice spark.
What I need to know is what the original tiller grip looked like.

Follow this link to Jack’s page for the Caille 79.

Jack also told me the correct spark plug is a Champion #7 for this motor.

There are many aftermarket reproduction grip companies today!

Big Rich’s Outboard sells on Ebay and @ meets

          George Cornog has grips, riverrattegeo@verizon.net

Fox Grips is still out there sells on Ebay

Doug Penn has grips also, bought some from him @ Constantine last year.

I purchased the grip for my Caille Model 88 from Fox due the smaller I.D. required.

          Good Luck,

          Bob

Thanks for the replies and the pictures. I have a couple smaller vintage grips that I’ll try.

Caille’s don’t show up for sale at meets too often especially in servicable condition. I had to have this one.

Nice project. Cailles don’t come along every day. I hope you post some photos when you finish the restoration.

Here is what I came up with.
I had some vintage grips from who knows what that came out of a dilapidated shed. I made a wood insert/adapter on my lathe and it looks pretty decent.
