The Johnson manual for my 56 10hp identifies the cam attached to the underside of the armature plate as the primary pickup point for synchronization and describes the adjustment as "center", but doesn’t specifically identify "centered on what" when the carb shaft begins to move. I interrupted that to mean that the mark stamped into the cam is centered on the cam follower like shown in the photo below, but I’m not sure I understood the instructions correctly. Is this the correct position for the cam to be when the carb shaft starts to turn?
