$20 a pop for a store bought gasket

I don’t know where you’re shopping but you can find them a lot cheaper than that.

Shipping in the States is a lot cheaper than here in Canada so $6.14 plus $5.95 shipping to WA for this one doesn’t seem bad especially if you buy a few of them. Doing a Google search for OMC 302557 or Sierra 18-2887 finds more of them.

I like nymarine’s gaskets as they seem a bit sturdier than BRP’s. Better prices to with the weak Cdn dollar but if you stock up on them, shipping would be negligible. How much can your OMC/BRP dealer supply them for?

Gasoila is still made. It work well. Is a bit pricey. It also has a fairly short shelf life. But it is perfect for its intended application.

I’ve used it to put Flambeau motors back together. Worked great. Held up to fuel.

About the shelf life……when the compound gets dry just add laquer thinner to it and stir it in! Lasts for years.

I called NAPA last night for a price for gasket 18-2887, and they said they did not have it in stock, that they could order it from the mid-west for $5.44 plus $8-$10 shipping UPS, depending on the weight. Around here about $8 is the minimum I have paid for shipping, so possibly around $15.50 each, ( I was remembering it around $20 last time with shipping) unless of course I buy more. There is no marine place here in town anymore, the economy got it. So the closest OMC or marine store is about an hour away from me, so again if I order it from them, $8 shipping UPS. To be fair, some parts I order from NAPA Sierra, they can get in that afternoon or the next morning, depending on if it’s in their warehouse or suppliers that they can pick up on the am and pm parts run they normally do, then no shipping costs.

Mumbles, thanks for the info, I will be checking out those places you mentioned, as I have several tanks to do. And thanks to everyone else that replied too. I think my question is answered.
