A neighbor gave me this tank today.  He says the fitting on the spout somehow connected to an outboard in a gravity feed setup.  I can’t quite see how that would work.  Ever seen one of these?IMG_4934

As I look at it, I wonder if it was meant for refueling while in the boat, with the spring loaded spout only opening when pressed against the fuel tank opening?  I don’t see how it would stay connected to an outboard and feed fuel without vacuum or pressure.

I have a couple of the early Eagle gas cans. One has a lot of the original decal remaining. I suspect you are correct about the push to open. Here is picture of the auxiliary set up. (not mine) You could get a 2-1/2 gallon as well.  Glenn Folkerts is the Eagle gas can guy. He had an article about these gas cans in the Outboarder not too long ago. If anyone knows anything about your nozzle it would be him. He has had an ad for reproduction decals, that came on these tanks, on the ad page of the Outboarder for a few years now. It has his phone # . He’s in his 90’s and I don’t believe June is much younger. She will probably be the one that answers the phone if you decide to call.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
