I would like to put a new circuit breaker on my CMC power tilt and trim unit. The original circuit breaker is 24 VDC 40 amp and is hooked up to one 12 volt battery. Can I use 12 volt 40 amp circuit breaker instead? https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/cole-hersee-circuit-breaker-40-amp-12v-30055-40-bp/11044362-P?searchTerm=40+amp+circuit+breaker
That 12V circuit breaker will be fine. I have that exact 12V 40amp breaker on the hydraulic jack plate on my 150 Evinrude.

I guess bob’s experience says it is ok, but we don’t really have enough information. For instance, there is a difference in the load type to consider. An inductive load (motors) is a lot harder on switches than a resistive load (lights)
Good point Frank. The entire circuit must be properly sized – switch, breaker and wiring.
this is what I ended up buying https://www.ebay.com/itm/CIRCUIT-BREAKER-40-AMP-24-Volt-DC-SHORTSTOP-MANUAL-RESET-BUTTON-40A/283691379450?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
