They were build for light weight and low cost. They did not take kindly to abuse. The most common broken part is the skeg on the bottom of the gear case. Gaskets may be cut from gasket material. The cork bumper in the check valve carburetor may be found in the canning section of a SuperMarket. Many adapt the Mercury float sold by Sierra Marine (i8-7208) if the old cork float is bad. The cork float was originally sealed with shellac which dissolves in todays alcohol containing fuel. If good, it would have to be resealed with fuel proof dope or super glue. The gear case takes grease. John Deere Corn Head Grease or white Lithium based assembly grease is used.
