I was cleaning the Elto rudder steer lower unit on my “Franken Motor” today
(that’s bolted to the 1932 Elto Super A power head) and found the number
      442-7 stamped in it.

I thought perhaps Elto’s were lumped in the model / year list on this site, but
further investigation shows the model 442 in the list to be a 1933 Lightwin
      5.1 hp, tiller steer.

Does the 442-7 tell anyone what year my lower unit is from?
In comparing photos, it looks close to the 1926 Elto Super “G”.

442-7 is likely the part number of the driveshaft housing (midsection). It isn’t a model number. The driveshaft housing looks like a model J or G. Model J would be 444-7 so I’ll guess it’s a model G.

Thanks for the replies. I guess what has me “confounded” is that the powerhead was ID’d
by the 442XXXXX number on the bottom of the crankcase, as a 1932 Elto Super A.

Strange that the Elto Super G lower unit has “442” stamped as well.

            Update…… Disregard the above!
I just caught my own dyslexic like error……. The power head is stamped
422, the lower unit is 442!
