I have a 1960 Evinrude Sportwin 10hp SN 10020 . I found only one oring in the lower crankshaft seal . The parts book shows 2 different rings for the lower seal. One oring goes in the carbon seal retainer however I am not sure where the second oring should go.
Does anyone have any experience or information where the second oring should go or if it is even needed ?

The parts book is misleading. Only one o-ring, inside the carbon seal. The other one they show goes around the lower main bearing, and is not an issue unless the crankcase is split.
