      When I dismantled my 1982 Evinrude 25hp there was no O-ring installed on the upper driveshaft splines nor was there an O-ring installed in the bottom end of the crankshaft.   Based on the attached parts diagram (with the O-ring shown as part #24) and based on the fact there is no groove in the driveshaft splines to receive an O-ring,  I assume this motor is one that uses an internal O-ring installed in the bottom end of the crankshaft.    Verification, please?

        Yes indeed.  The oring lives in a groove at the bottom of the crank on these models.
