Started back work on my lightfour imperial 4178 after putting it in hold for a while..searching for a couple of coils..does anyone know where i can find some? From what I understand the zephyr coils will work as well but would love to have some tested originals..  Any help would be much appreciated!

People are using these instead of the Zephyr
coil as substitute for obsolete coils but I don’t
know if anyone has tried to use them to
replace the coils in a Zephyr or Lightfour.
The length is the problem. If you could find a
way to mount them they would work.

I wonder how good it would work to use the military coil,
leaving it’s laminates intact, and sandwich the appropriate
length of laminates from the Zephyr coil on each end?
I may try it next time.

What isthe resistance of the secondary winding? The coils may not be bad.

There are two different types of Zephyr/Light Four coil assemblies. Pre war and post war. The coil windings themselves might be similar but the internal lams and lams on the plate are different.

thanks for the help guys .. the coils are for sure dead it’s verified with ohm resistant test..

Matt and Doug are working on getting me taken care of with one of there part motors so hopefully that will test out good and I get her running… if not will explore some the options that y’all have given. Thanks again
