Yeah, the cowl (or in the my case of the Lightwin, the gas tank) is particularly difficult due to there being 3 colors on the piece. I had to redo the white, which I applied first, as tape marks marred the finish when I taped over to put on the other colors. I found that it’s best to do the Polychromatic first, as tape doesn’t seem to bother it.
