          Can you post any pics? Helps immensely with ID of motor/year. According to serial # you have a 6039 Speeditwin from 1941. If its correct, the decal should be gold, the gas cap should be aluminum and the tiller handle should be all aluminum not the post war bakelite.

            This is a 1941. Serial # 6039 02631. I almost forgot the most important part, the prewar models have the earlier gearfoot as well. Much better than the war model and 46 to 48 clubfoot lower unit. They’re awesome motors. Run like a top and start with minimal effort when tuned right.
