There are a couple of guys here into Zephyrs. Not me. If they shouldn’t see your post, measure the shaft, the hole the seal goes into, and how deep. In those days, parts were made using common inch measurements.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Shakes, welcome! Those Zephyrs didn’t have much for oil seals. I have been making seals with a couple hole punches and a chunk of an old belt or dog collar. Not many sealed up so good either! Remember that gear case takes a special grease. Many members use John Deer corn head grease. I use “OO” grease that you can buy at Tractor supply. Make sure you drain any water that will get in the gear case before freeze up time. I will try to post a picture.

Another thing I should mention, make sure you use some kind of shortie spark plugs. The long j6 or equivalent will short out to the cover making a spark and that has caused fires. I found some LM17 champions with twist off caps that do the job nicely! I have two of these kickers. When they run they are sweet, quiet and smooth.
