I opened up my FD15 to replace the upper bearing assembly and found an o-ring installed on the upper bearing housing. I cannot find an o-ring shown on any of the parts diagrams. My question is; is there supposed to be and o-ring on the upper bearing housing? There is a groove in the crankcase that it would fit into.
      Thanks
      Mike

Look closely in that groove. I think you will find a tiny hole that leads back down to the intake manifold. Manifold vacuum sucks back to the manifold any oil that might seep past the bearing shell. So an o-ring is not needed or used. Yeah, I know, lots of guys look at that groove and can’t stand it and slap an o-ring in it.
