March 11, 2026 at 9:17 pm #308627Is there a plan for the stock that remains after the sale is finalized? I sure hope that the old back issues don’t end up in the dumpster. That would be tragic loss of valuable resource.

Unfortunately, things don’t look so good for the leftover magazines that don’t get sent to new homes. Ordering magazines = saving magazines = hanging onto the information + having great reading material. That’s why I made this post, so we can save as many as possible. There’s lots of interesting history, information and stories in the magazines. You should order some!

March 11, 2026 at 11:31 pm #308645I agree.. I have quite a library of old issues already, both from my period as a member and accumulation from other sources. The EC just better not trash the old copies… better to get them into the hands of members, especially newer members.. I understand the shipping issue $$$… how about just parcel them out to some of the major meets around the country and let the members pick em’ up. No cost involved. But PLEASE no dumpster.

March 12, 2026 at 3:46 pm #308784Unfortunately the cost and room to store the inventory of back issues is greater than the club would like to invest. Please see the explanation provided and posted.

Changes to the AOMCI Bookstore
Bookstore Inventory and Storage ReviewA review of the AOMCI Bookstore’s financial performance over the past six years shows total net income after expenses of $845, averaging approximately $140 per year. Based on the current inventory report of remaining magazines, it is reasonable to conclude that most unsold inventory consists primarily of older publications.
Printed materials require basic climate control to prevent deterioration. As inventory has continued to grow each quarter, storage requirements have expanded beyond what an individual can reasonably provide.
Consideration was given to securing a dedicated storage solution. The costs of renting a climate-controlled storage space were projected to exceed $4,000, making that option financially impractical given current Bookstore revenue.
AOMCI is now faced with several compounding issues:
Excess inventory consisting of older, low-demand (“dead”) stock
The ongoing cost of climate-controlled storage
The need to efficiently process member orders
Continued inventory growth requiring additional storage
The SolutionMaintaining an inventory of three years of back issues is manageable from a storage perspective and better aligned with member demand. Transitioning order processing to the Membership Chairman adds efficiency, as damaged magazine requests are already handled through that office.
For these reasons, the decision has been made to sell off older inventory and limit available back issues to those no more than three years past publication.
Liquidation Sale
As part of this transition, the Executive Council is making select back issues available for purchase by members. Back issues are offered at $8 per issue, including shipping. Members interested in purchasing back issues should contact Sean Harrison at aomcimemberservices@gmail.com and include the issue information, quantity requested, and mailing address. Availability will be confirmed before orders are filled. This offer will be available through Friday, March 13, 2026.
March 12, 2026 at 9:35 pm #308824I hope the back issues get scanned, in searchable format, then offered
for sale on CD or thumb drives, etc. That would make a nice Christmas present.Prepare to be boarded!
March 14, 2026 at 2:32 pm #309336Before any magazines get scrapped the online directory should be updated to preserve all
inFormation.
