1948-49 Gale model 1G5, 1.5hp. J-8-C Plug .035 gap (I think). Points .020″. Tillotson carb. Russ Larson, The Martin Guy, has kits. Lower unit take grease. Lubriplate 105 or John Deere Corn Head Grease. They always leak, re-grease often. Water pump rotor is available from Brian Wilcox call 810-794-7685 before 8 pm est please.Or email Baron0418@att.net. please note the b must be a capital. Grease leaking out of lower unit destroys the pump rotor. I have a fix for that.

That same OMC powerhead was used on the Evinrude Sportsman in 1948 through 1951. In my opinion, one of the finest singles ever built. The spark plug gap is 0.030″. – this may help

IF it has an auto- rewind starter, it won’t have this housing, BUT the internal parts are pretty much standard.
