New Years resolution: Clean up and I.D. parts.
In a box marked “7512-1953 Fleetwin 7.5hp” is a crank with the casting number 202465-75. (all the parts in the box look like the 53 fleetwin parts – carb, covers, face plate, recoil, tank, etc.)
My parts book states the part number as 203221 for the 53 Fleetwin crank. I know casting numbers do not reflect part numbers but I’m just trying to make sure this is a 53 Fleetwin crank.
Might someone have a known 53 Fleetwin crank that can verify the casting number?
      Thanks,
      Nick

No ’53 crank but I did find a ’55 crank with 402167 on it. The service manual does show different part numbers for ’53 and ’54-’55 cranks but the journal sizes are the same so I’m sure they would all interchange.

It seems Johnson and Evinrude were great for changing P/N’s with no visible change in the parts.

I think the earlier ones had more driveshaft splines, the later ones have four splines…

Took a few photos of my 1950 Fleetwin crank compared to what I am 99% sure is my 1953 Fleetwin crank.
Dimensionally they are identical and both spin freely in the front cover of the 1953 fleetwin block.
The 1950 crank has large weights attached to the counter balance sections. The 1953 has no such weights.
The 1950 also has the point cam ground into the crank where the 1953 has a separate point cam.
Both cranks have the splined drive shaft bottoms.
So, for sure it’s not a 1950 crank and since the splined drive shaft is required, I’m thinking more and more that it is a 1953 crank.
When did OMC go to a separate cam on the Fleetwin?

Change to a separate cam was because of the new OMC Universal Magneto.
