Now I’m really confused. 😕 I just found another folder/picture on my back up drive that shows the 1954 driveshaft with 4 splines on top, 11 bottom. So maybe the 4 splines was the change for ’54 and then they went longer in 1955 making ’54 unique. So my assumption that the one I have now is a ’54 might be wrong. I’ll get to the bottom of it sooner or later.

The 303481 drive shaft in my parts book definitely shows four splines on top. It also refers to a crankshaft not mentioned in any other Johnson parts book. Assuming length and diameter of the shafts are the same, seems the only difference from one to another would be the configuration of the splines ?

Yes, it’s starting to make a little more sense now Oz, thanks. It’s probably a ’53 drive shaft.

Thanks Mumbles…I stole your Einstein generator idea! 😉
