      Why does the gap between head /block look so open? Can you keep it running enough to check timing? Did you adjust needle valves while running or just by number of turns not running? How are my punkyouation*

        OK, I see what you did…Once the vertical rod was out, you must have advanced the throttle tiller which allowed the two gears to spin out of each other.
        I think you can get it back together without removing the horizontal shaft/gear….First, remove the vertical throttle rod again, only takes a couple of minutes. Now align the first teeth of horizontal and vertical gears by retarding the tiller control and vertical gear until the first teeth of each is lined up. Now simply retard the tiller throttle control which will draw the gears in, then reinstall the vertical throttle rod….
        You will need to "rebend" that SS clamp that holds the vertical throttle rod and mag plate arm together or the mag plate arm will just pop off the vertical throttle shaft….
