Looks like it was a Caille Liberty Single before the tank was replaced, the exhaust manifold and muffler were, lost, and the timer was more than someone’s imagination.
That motor is the first version of the Caille Liberty drive. There are 3 versions but within the 3 versions are several different parts interchanges that make it look like lots of variations. This first version has the early crankcase and tiller. The gas tank was square but didn’t look like that tank. This version didn’t have a skeg on the lower unit.
The second version had a flywheel with 3 holes in it and was smaller in diameter than the latest version with 4 holes in it. The second version has a crankcase identical to the latest version but most of the time the oval gas tank doesn’t have any embossed letters in the ends of the tank. The final version usually has embossed letters in the ends of the tank and could also have a under the flywheel magneto.
There are examples of the liberty drive out there that have parts some will say are not right but the factory used up existing parts when improvements were made so knowone really knows. They are all great to hear run. The aomci facebook group has one running in a farm pond right now. Check it out.
