Can anyone help with identifying an Indian outboard motor? Also, help with locating parts. Thank you

June 10, 2026 at 7:16 am #321603If memory serves they were only made one year…but sold for 2 years, 1930 and 1931…
I have been wrong before.. Not a common motor so parts will be a challenge to find.Got some photos?

Serial number is 2021. Thank you

Gary, as a Member be sure to check out Tom Oncken’s (Special Interest Group Leader) page here on the site. Lots of Information there!
I believe that Tom is maintaining a serial number registry for the Indian outboards. You can submit yours if you want; he will appreciate it.
Special Interest Group pages are accessible thru the Inner Sanctum.
June 10, 2026 at 4:29 pm #321687Gary – you should definitely contact Tom Oncken as the Indian Special Interest Group leader and provide him with the serial number of your motor for his registry. Depending on how/where you acquired your Indian, he may already have the serial number recorded but if not, he would definitely want to have a record of it. He has been updating his registry for a number of years now and last I heard from him, he had a total of just over 200 of these motors documented out of perhaps 1500 originally built.
I found an Indian Silver Arrow a few years ago but it was definitely not for sale. If you don’t mind sharing, it would be interesting to hear how you came across this #2021.

I found it in an old steel warehouse and ended up being a bartering chip for future work on old boat projects.
