Just picked up a 1950 Evinrude Fastwin 14hp I think
There is no ID tag on it anywhere
Cleaned it up yesterday and plan on a full restoration
Just wondering if anyone might have some information on this motor
Plan on putting it on the 1950 Peterborough Aquaflyer that I have been restoring in my spare time for the past 3 years
ThanxApril 10, 2018 at 5:22 am #73728Cylinder block, pistons & rings interchangeable with the 1949 12 horse Elto. I seem to have lost some of the pages of the parts book . . . π

April 10, 2018 at 6:05 am #73729P.S. That is a model 4438 Fastwin – I had trouble with the rubber motor mounts twisting out of place and put a very short sheet metal screw in each to help hold them in place. It uses a Tiltson MD carburetor. The low speed adjustment adjusts the air. The idle tube supplies a set amount of fuel. It is also easy to clog up with stale oil. The gearcase was also used on the ’49 and ’50 QD Johnson. . . π

RTApril 10, 2018 at 11:57 am #73736you may want to consult boat info bible….where you usually find the cousin Johnson engines but in 1950 no 14hp are listed only 2.5, 5, 10, 16, 20 hp are listed ??

Performance was fine for a big boat and small motor. We had a speedo on it and I seem to remember 15 mph, maybe 18 tops. My boat can be seen in the pictures page here.
I still have both but have not run the motor in many years.April 14, 2018 at 1:46 am #73948Do you have the correct Cruise a day tank? I have an extra one P.M. me, Garry!!! wonderful data & How’s that tree
